Diapontia Islands – Private Boat Cruise
Explore Diapontia Islands one of the Greece’s best kept secrets. This small Mediterranean paradise still hidden from massive tourism is located at the most northwest part of Greece, a few miles west of Corfu island. Diapontia islands consist of several smaller islands, islets and rocks. The main and the only inhabited islands of the archipelago are Othoni, Erikousa and Mathraki.
Erikousa is the island closer to Corfu island and the second most inhabited of the Diapontia islands. It is also known, among the Italians, with the name Marlera. Very quiet, green and full of virgin beaches untouched by time.
Othoni is the largest of the Diapontia islands and the most inhabited. Myth has it that Othoni is the island of the nymph Calypso who lived on the island of Ogygia, where, according to Homer’s Odyssey, she detained Odysseus for seven years. She promised Odysseus immortality if he would stay with her, but Odysseus preferred to return home.
